Flood damage cleanup covers the full response to flooding from storms, overflowing rivers or creeks, or severe rainfall overwhelming drainage systems – situations that typically involve larger volumes of water and often contaminated water compared to a typical indoor pipe break.
We respond throughout Poultney, VT after major storms and flooding events, when water has entered a home or business from outside rather than from an internal plumbing failure. Flood water is usually classified as gray or black water, meaning it can carry contaminants from soil, runoff, or sewage systems, which changes how we approach the cleanup compared to a clean water situation.
We start with extraction to remove standing water, then assess everything that was affected – flooring, drywall, insulation, and personal belongings – with the understanding that flood water contamination often means more material needs to be removed rather than dried in place. Affected areas get cleaned and sanitized with antimicrobial treatments before drying equipment goes in, since treating for contamination matters as much as removing the water itself. We document everything throughout for insurance purposes, since flood claims often involve separate flood insurance policies with their own documentation requirements.
Cost depends on the volume of water, the water category, how much material needs replacement, and the size of the affected area.
If flooding has hit your Poultney, VT property, call (507) 853-2142 and we'll get a crew out to start cleanup right away.
